Description

At the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science of the University of Trento, pursuant to Article 22-bis of Law no. 240 of 30 December 2010, a selection procedure based on qualifications and an interview is hereby announced for the award of one (1) post-doc assignment, with a fixed-term subordinate employment contract, for the purpose of carrying out research activities as well as collaboration in teaching (max. 42 h) and third-mission activities within the scope of the following research project.

The project "Physiological synchrony during interpersonal conflict and reconciliation phases- CUP E73C23000020001" aims to explore the psychological and relational processes that characterize interpersonal conflict and reconciliation. In interpersonal conflict the moral and human self-images of perpetrators and victims become psychologically tethered when reparative processes are initiated. Because both parties experience a diminished sense of their own humanity following interpersonal harm, they are motivated to restore it. One way

to do so is by reaffirming, or at least enhancing, the perceived humanity of the opposing party. In the present project, we aim to extend this paradigm by examining whether variations in the perceived humanness of the self and the other are associated with corresponding changes in physiological parameters (e.g., heart rate variability, skin conductance).
Specifically, we test whether these parameters shift from marked asynchrony during experimentally induced conflict to increased synchrony during reconciliation attempts.
The candidate will be involved in the design and implementation of a series of laboratory studies, in which they will be asked to: 1) program the presentation of stimuli and the different phases of the research; 2) carry out data pre-processing and analysis; 3) write scientific articles based on the results obtained. In addition, 4) the candidate will be required to teach a professional elective course on reconciliation processes within interpersonal and intergroup relationships in the bachelor degree of Psychology.
The scientific and professional profile required to carry out the research project is described in Article 2 below - Requirements for participation in the selection.
